About Cover Furnace
Cover Furnace manufactured by United Enterprises is a cover-type (hood-type) batch furnace where a movable heating cover is lowered over the load, ideal for annealing coils, wire stacks and similar batches.
Brief Description:
Cover furnaces also known as hood furnaces are an excellent fit for batch annealing of cold-rolled coils, wire stacks, sheet packs and other stacked or coiled loads. One cover can serve multiple bases, improving utilisation: while one base is heating, others can be loaded or cooled.
We supply cover furnaces with electric or recuperative gas-fired heating, sealed muffles for atmosphere control and high-quality refractory insulation. Cracked ammonia, hydrogen or nitrogen is supplied via our own gas generators.
Each cover furnace is engineered for the customers load weight, height and shop floor layout.
Characteristics:
- Movable hood / cover design over stationary base
- Same cover serves multiple bases for high productivity
- Maximum temperature up to 1050C
- Available in electric or recuperative gas-fired versions
- Cracked ammonia / hydrogen / nitrogen atmosphere
- Low-density high-quality insulation
- Outstanding seal for low heat loss
- PLC and SCADA-based control

FAQs:
Q: Cover and hood same thing?
A: Yes, the terms are largely interchangeable. Cover tends to emphasise the lid that fits over the base; hood may emphasise the dome shape.
Q: How many bases per cover are typical?
A: Two to three bases per cover are typical, balancing heating time against loading/cooling time.
Q: Do you supply revamps?
A: Yes. We undertake refractory renewal, burner upgrade and atmosphere upgrade revamps for existing cover furnaces.
