Rotary Retort Furnace manufactured by United Enterprises has wide application in the hardening and tempering of components such as screws, nuts, chain links, springs, bearing races, needles, balls and similar small parts.

Brief Description:

We manufacture and export best-in-class Rotary Retort Furnaces used for a range of heat treatment processes including carbonitriding, carburizing, hardening, normalizing and tempering. The core of the furnace is a centrifugally cast, high-quality metal drum (retort) installed inside an insulated, electrically or gas-heated chamber.

An endothermic atmosphere is typically maintained inside the retort during through-hardening. The drum is driven electrically through a chain or rack-and-pinion mechanism. The load (tumble) inside the retort can be conveyed in batch mode with forward and backward motion the same opening is used for entry and exit. In continuous designs, parts enter from one end and exit the other; for hardening, an oil, polymer or water quench tank can be provided at the exit, while tempering does not need a quench. Conventional carburizing is also possible.

Each unit is built to the customers load, atmosphere and cycle time requirements.

A: Yes though most production setups use a dedicated rotary retort for hardening with quench and a separate rotary retort or batch furnace for tempering. Our team will recommend the best layout.

A: Batch size varies from a few kilograms in small retorts up to several hundred kilograms in larger units, depending on the customers needs.

Q: Is atmosphere essential?

A: For hardening and carbonitriding, atmosphere is essential. For simple tempering, atmosphere control may not be required.
