About Pot Furnace
Pot Furnace manufactured by United Enterprises is a vertical, pot-type batch furnace with a removable or fixed alloy pot, used for heat treatment in controlled atmosphere or molten media.
Brief Description:
Pot furnaces are well suited to processes such as nitriding, carburizing, bright annealing, salt-bath heat treatment and stress relieving. The pot holds the workload, baffles and any required medium (gas, salt or oil) protecting the charge from direct radiation and allowing forced air or gas circulation.
We supply pot furnaces with electric or recuperative gas-fired heating, special air-recirculation fans and high-quality refractory insulation. Atmosphere control via cracked ammonia, endothermic gas or nitrogen is supported by our own gas generators.
Each pot furnace is engineered around the customers component size, batch weight, atmosphere/medium and process need.
Characteristics:
- Vertical pot design with alloy retort
- Maximum temperature up to 1200C
- Available in electric and recuperative gas-fired versions
- Air-recirculation fans for temperature uniformity
- Cracked ammonia / endo / nitrogen atmosphere
- Suitable for nitriding, carburizing, bright annealing, salt-bath
- Low-density high-quality refractory insulation
- PLC and SCADA-based control

FAQs:
Q: Pot furnace vs salt-bath furnace?
A: Pot furnaces are general-purpose; salt-bath furnaces are pot furnaces specifically used with molten salt as the heating/quenching medium.
Q: Which atmosphere is most common?
A: Cracked ammonia for nitriding and bright annealing; endothermic for carburizing; nitrogen for inert protection.
Q: Do you supply baskets and fixtures?
A: Yes. Charge baskets, holders, baffles and fixtures designed for the customers parts are supplied as part of the package.
Advanced Control and SafetyEquipped with a digital temperature controller, the pot furnace offers automatic cut-off and emergency shut-off switches, ensuring both operational precision and user safety. Overheat protection is integrated to prevent hazards and minimize downtime, making the furnace suitable for intensive industrial workloads over an extended lifespan.
Superior Build for Industrial DemandConstructed with a heavy-duty mild steel shell and lined with high-quality refractory materials, the furnace is designed to withstand extreme temperatures and aggressive thermal cycles. The use of high-grade cast iron or silicon carbide pots guarantees durability and compatibility with a variety of melt materials, while the integrated chimney supports effective exhaust and air quality control.
Flexible and Customizable SolutionsAvailable as fixed installations or portable units, this pot furnace adapts to your facility's needs. With customizable dimensions, capacity, and power ratings, it allows for versatile use in melting glass, ferrous, and non-ferrous metals, from laboratory tasks to full-scale manufacturing production. FAQ's of Pot Furnace:
Q: How does the digital temperature controller improve furnace operation?
A: The advanced digital temperature controller maintains precise heat levels up to 1500C, ensuring accurate melting processes. Its automatic cut-off feature prevents overheating, while emergency shut-off switches enhance operational safety during use.
Q: What materials can be processed in this pot furnace?
A: Designed for versatility, this pot furnace efficiently melts glass, ferrous, and non-ferrous metals. The high-grade cast iron or silicon carbide pot guarantees compatibility with a range of industrial materials.
Q: When should I opt for a fixed versus a mobile furnace design?
A: Choose a fixed design for continuous, high-volume industrial operations or when space is dedicated. Opt for a mobile furnace if your process requires flexibility, multiple stations, or varying locations within your facility.
Q: Where is the pot furnace best utilized?
A: This furnace is ideal for industrial glass melting, metal melting, and laboratory environments requiring precise temperature control and efficient batch processing. Exporters, manufacturers, and suppliers benefit from its reliability and robust construction.
Q: What is the process for operating and maintaining the furnace?
A: Loading is done from the top with a secure locking lid. Set the target temperature using the digital controls, and let the furnace handle the rest. For maintenance, periodic cleaning and inspection of insulation and pot material ensure long-term, safe operation with minimal downtime.
Q: What are the safety benefits of this furnace?
A: Safety features include overheat protection, a digital temperature cut-off, an emergency shut-off switch, and a secure lid mechanism. These systems work together to provide maximum operator safety and prevent equipment damage.
Q: How does the energy-efficient operation benefit users?
A: The combination of refractory lining, ceramic fiber insulation, and advanced heating elements ensures rapid heat-up and reduces energy waste. This results in lower operational costs and increased throughput for glass and metal melting projects.
