About Sealed Quench Furnace
Sealed Quench Furnace manufactured by United Enterprises is an integrated heat treatment furnace combining a heating chamber and a sealed quench tank ideal for hardening, carburizing, carbonitriding and similar atmosphere-controlled processes.
Brief Description:
Sealed Quench Furnaces (also abbreviated as SQF or IQF) are the workhorse of modern heat treatment shops. The sealed chamber maintains a tight atmosphere typically endothermic gas or cracked ammonia while the integrated quench tank below the heating chamber ensures rapid, controlled quench without exposure to ambient air.
Our SQF designs are supplied with our in-house Ammonia Crackers, Endo Gas Generators, Nitrogen Generators or Hydrogen Generators, all built under one roof. Both electric and recuperative gas-fired heating versions are available.
Each unit is engineered for the customers parts, atmosphere, target hardness and throughput.
Characteristics:
- Maximum temperature up to 1200C
- Sealed atmosphere with integrated quench tank
- Available in electric and recuperative gas-fired versions
- Endo gas / cracked ammonia / nitrogen atmosphere
- Low-density high-quality insulation
- In-house gas generators for controlled atmosphere
- Multi-zone PLC and SCADA temperature control
- Maximum operational efficiency

FAQs:
Q: Sealed quench or open quench?
A: Sealed quench is preferred where atmosphere control is critical carburizing, carbonitriding, and bright hardening. Open quench is simpler and used for plain hardening.
Q: Do you supply with gas generators?
A: Yes. Endo Gas Generator, Ammonia Cracker and Nitrogen Generator are built in-house and supplied with the SQF.
Q: Can it be integrated with washing and tempering?
A: Yes. Complete sealed quench lines with pre-wash, post-wash and tempering furnace are routinely supplied.
Advanced Control and Uniform HeatingThe PLC-based control panel with digital display allows for precise programming and monitoring of all furnace parameters. With advanced temperature regulation and atmosphere control, each batch achieves consistent, uniform heat treatment. Heating is provided by high-quality Nickel-Chrome or Silicon Carbide elements, ensuring energy efficiency and extended component life.
Outstanding Safety and EfficiencySafety is integral with features like overtemperature protection, secure door lock mechanisms, and automatic power cutoff. The sealed quench chamber and hydraulically operated, air-tight door minimize heat loss and emission, promoting safety and energy savings. The furnace meets ISO 9001:2015 certification for quality assurance in demanding industrial environments.
Reliable Atmosphere and Quenching ControlOur sealed chamber supports controlled endothermic or exothermic atmospheres, essential for precise carburizing and hardening. The integrated oil or polymer quench tank, with efficient agitation, delivers rapid, uniform cooling-critical for metallurgical consistency. Available in custom sizes, the unit adapts to diverse production requirements.
FAQ's of Sealed Quench Furnace:
Q: How does the sealed quench furnace maintain a controlled atmosphere during operation?
A: The furnace is designed with an entirely sealed chamber, utilizing specialized gases (endothermic or exothermic) for the desired atmosphere. This controlled environment is maintained by high-quality seals and insulation, preventing external contamination and ensuring precise heat treatment results.
Q: What safety features are integrated into this furnace model?
A: Multiple safety interlocks protect both operators and equipment, including overtemperature sensors, a secure door locking system, and automatic power cutoff in case of emergencies. The hydraulically operated, air-tight door further enhances operational safety and minimizes heat escapes.
Q: When should I use oil versus polymer as the quenching medium?
A: Oil quenching is commonly chosen for applications requiring rapid cooling and a specific hardness profile, while polymer quenchants are preferred for greater flexibility in cooling rates and reduced risk of cracking. The selection depends on the metallurgical specifications of the heat treatment process.
Q: Where can this furnace be installed, and what are the dimension options?
A: The furnace is suitable for installation in industrial heat treatment shops or manufacturing facilities. Dimensions, capacity, and chamber size can be fully customized based on specific space requirements and batch processing needs.
Q: What is the process sequence in this furnace for heat treatment?
A: Material is loaded via manual or automatic loader, followed by chamber sealing. The furnace precisely heats to the programmed temperature while maintaining a controlled gas atmosphere. After soaking, components are transferred into the integrated oil or polymer quench tank for rapid cooling, completing the process safely and effectively.
Q: How does the high-grade ceramic fiber insulation benefit the operation?
A: High-grade ceramic fiber insulation minimizes heat losses, enhances thermal efficiency, and provides rapid temperature uniformity within the chamber. This contributes to lower energy consumption and stable performance over extended operations.
Q: What industry certifications does this sealed quench furnace hold?
A: The furnace carries ISO 9001:2015 certification, guaranteeing adherence to international quality management standards for manufacturing, performance, and safety.
