About Solution Annealing Furnace
Solution Annealing Furnace manufactured by United Enterprises is a heat treatment furnace used for solution annealing of stainless steel, aluminium and specialty alloys dissolving precipitates back into the matrix for subsequent ageing or service.
Brief Description:
Solution annealing is the first step of precipitation hardening for aluminium 2xxx, 6xxx and 7xxx series, certain stainless grades and many specialty alloys. The part is heated above the solvus to dissolve precipitates, then rapidly quenched to retain the supersaturated solid solution.
Our Solution Annealing Furnaces are paired with rapid-quench systems and charge manipulators (up to 25 MT capacity) to keep quench delay within 1545 seconds essential for repeatable metallurgy.
Both electric and recuperative gas-fired heating versions are available, with multi-zone PLC temperature control.
Characteristics:
- Designed for solution annealing of aluminium / SS / specialty alloys
- Maximum temperature up to 1100C
- Quench delay within 1545 seconds
- XY / XYZ charging manipulators (up to 25 MT)
- Available in electric and recuperative gas-fired versions
- Multi-zone PLC and SCADA temperature control

FAQs:
Q: Which alloys need solution annealing?
A: Aluminium 2xxx, 6xxx and 7xxx series, certain stainless grades and many specialty precipitation-hardening alloys.
Q: Why is quench delay so critical?
A: To retain the supersaturated solid solution. Delayed quench can lead to premature precipitation and inferior properties.
Q: Do you supply with ageing furnaces?
A: Yes. Ageing furnaces matched to the solution annealing line are part of our offering.
Advanced PLC Control for Enhanced PrecisionThis solution annealing furnace features a PLC-based automatic control system that enables precise monitoring and adjustment of heat treatment parameters. The intuitive digital control panel allows operators to easily set and maintain the desired temperature, ensuring uniformity throughout the chamber and improving final product quality.
Durable and Efficient ConstructionBuilt with insulated refractory material and stainless steel housing, the furnace ensures excellent heat retention and durability even at high operating temperatures. High-quality Kanthal, Nichrome, or SiC heating elements deliver energy efficiency and consistent performance. The system's construction allows for long-term industrial usage with minimal maintenance.
Safety and Flexibility for Varied ApplicationsEquipped with air or water-cooled options and robust safety features-such as over-temperature protection and emergency shut-off-the furnace provides a secure operational environment. Customizable chamber sizes and process atmosphere options (air, nitrogen, or custom) enable users to adapt the furnace to a wide range of metallurgical and alloy heat treatment processes.
FAQ's of Solution Annealing Furnace:
Q: How does the PLC-based automatic control system benefit furnace operation?
A: The PLC-based automatic control system enables precise programming and monitoring of the heat treatment process, allowing for accurate temperature control, data logging, and automated adjustments. This improves process consistency and reduces operator error, leading to better quality and reliability in annealed products.
Q: What materials or products can be processed in this solution annealing furnace?
A: This furnace is suited for processing a wide range of materials including stainless steel, high-strength alloys, and other metallurgical components that require heat treatment or solution annealing. Glass sizes and shapes can also be accommodated, as the chamber and capacity are fully customizable.
Q: When should the air or water-cooled system be selected for furnace operation?
A: The choice between air and water cooling depends on the specific cooling rate required by the material and the application. Water cooling is recommended for faster cooling cycles or when processing thicker or highly heat-sensitive parts, while air cooling is sufficient for less demanding applications.
Q: Where can this furnace be installed, and are sizes customizable?
A: The furnace is designed for industrial environments such as manufacturing plants, metallurgical laboratories, or alloy processing facilities. Both chamber dimensions and overall furnace size are customizable to meet client specifications, ensuring seamless integration within various operational settings.
Q: What safety features are incorporated to protect operators and equipment?
A: Safety is prioritized through several features, including over-temperature protection, emergency shut-off mechanisms, and a hydraulically or fully automatic door to prevent accidental exposure to high temperatures. These ensure the safe operation of the furnace during all heat treatment processes.
Q: How does the furnace maintain uniform temperature distribution?
A: High-quality heating elements (Kanthal, Nichrome, or SiC) in combination with insulated refractory chamber construction and advanced control systems deliver temperature uniformity to within 5C across the chamber, resulting in consistently treated components throughout each batch.
Q: What are the energy efficiency benefits of this furnace?
A: With its robust insulation, efficient heating elements, and intelligent automatic controls, the furnace minimizes energy consumption during operation and reduces heat loss, promoting cost-effective and eco-friendly industrial processing.
